What should I do if my competitors click on my Google Ads?

The biggest concern of many people when advertising is, what if my competitor hires someone to click on my advertisement? It costs 2 dollars to click on a keyword, and I will burn out the money after people click 1,000 times.

Don’t worry, these types of clicks are called ” invalid clicks(Invalid Click)”, Google has a very powerful algorithm to filter it, and we will not suffer any loss.

In other words, it doesn’t matter if competitors click on our Google ads, because in the eyes of Google’s algorithm, these clicks are invalid clicks, and Google will not deduct fees. Even if fees are incurred, Google will refund you.

In this article, I will start with you from the following two angles:

How does Google identify invalid clicks?

It is very normal to have such concerns, such as this postIt was a person who asked for a refund from Google with a conversion rate of zero. It was posted in the Google community. I think the following reply has perfectly answered this question:

There is no standard ratio of inquiries to clicks. Google provides visitors to your site. Google does not promise conversions. Check your Search Terms report and make sure the searches are relevant to your product/service.

98% of Google’s revenue comes from advertising, and they will do everything possible to protect this cake, so we just feel free to spend money boldly.

In this official Google articleIt is very clear that Google currently uses more than 180 filters to filter invalid clicks. These filters are the same as Google’s ranking algorithm and are not announced to the public at all, so there is no need to worry about being cracked.

In fact, a lot of clicks are filtered out at the moment of clicking…Google’s blacklist has many high-risk IPs and IP segments. For example, when I click on Google ads with my scientific Internet IP, I can’t even open the page.

can't access this page

This means that my IP segment is in the blacklist.

If you can access it with your scientific Internet IP, it means that your IP is not currently in the blacklist, but in the future, as long as this IP segment produces suspicious behavior, it will be blacklisted.

And all clicks before this IP segment will be marked as invalid clicks by Google, and refunds will be given to customers who have suffered losses.

Google may not be able to detect new IPs like this in real time, but with such powerful machine learning capabilities, Google can know whether the IP segment is valid in just a few weeks.

And the most powerful point is that Google can also determine whether the person is really interested in the advertisement based on the browsing history of this IP segment.

For example, a person clicked on the advertisement of “LED Lights Factory” one day, walked around and left, but in the next period of time, Google, based on machine learning and big data algorithms, found that this person’s daily behavior was basically the same as ” LED Lights Factory” has nothing to do with it, then the person’s previous clicks will be classified as “invalid clicks”.

So even if your competitors hire people from abroad to click on your website, it’s okay, because Google can easily identify whether these people are interested in “LED Lights Factory”.

If we just hire a few people to blindly jb, our advertisement will not be affected at all.

How to deal with invalid clicks?

Most of the time, this type of invalid click will not appear in the ad report at all. If there is a fraudulent click, Google will refund your money within two months. To check the refund trend, you can see this post.

If you feel that there are still suspicious clicks, you can fill out this form, Google will arrange for someone to contact you.
